AMBASSADOR’S MESSAGE

I am delighted to wish you all “A happy new year” and to welcome you to 2019. 2018 was my first full calendar year as Ambassador in France and it was indeed a year of momentous political, social and economic events bolstering the relationship between France and Nigeria, even as the country recovered from a biting economic recession. In 2019, the embassy will continue to build on these successes, through a three-pronged approach.

First, we will make every effort to promote the welfare of Nigerians in France and facilitate their communication with the embassy. To this end we are making it easier to contact the embassy both by phone and online. We are also working to improve your overall comfort on the premises. These changes will soon come into operation.

Secondly, we will leverage on the increased interactions between President Buhari and President Macron (both leaders visited the other’s country in 2018), and on increased conversations between other French and Nigerian government and industry leaders, to extend the network of partnerships among Nigerian and French entrepreneurs across existing and emerging sectors; plans for more exchanges in 2019 are already underway. Through its active engagements in such interchanges, the embassy is helping to expand transactions between France and Nigeria, France’s biggest trade partner in Sub-Saharan Africa. Do take a look at the synopsis of investment and business meetings the embassy engaged in, in 2018.

Thirdly, the embassy takes very seriously its duty to promote and protect the good image of Nigeria. We applaud you, the vast majority of Nigerians in France, who continue to exhibit impeccable professional conduct and contribute positively to your host country. We encourage you to inform the embassy of noteworthy events and exploits within the Nigerian community in France and in Nigeria so that this information can be disseminated through our website.

Once again, I wish you a very blessed and prosperous 2019.

I remain, yours sincerely,

(DR.) Modupe. E. Irele
Ambassador
