We wish to inform Nigerians in France and the Principality of Monaco of the following updated guidelines from the Federal Government of Nigeria for evacuation flights of stranded Nigerians from different countries abroad:

PRE-DEPARTURE:

There will be Pre-Departure Infection Prevention Control (IPC) Measures, which include:

i. Temperature checks using hand-held infrared thermometers. Returnees with temperature above 38 degrees will not be allowed to board the flight;

ii. Visual Observation of the passengers (Passengers with symptoms suggestive of covid-19 will not be allowed to board);

iii. Provision of hand sanitizers to passengers for use at the door of the aircraft before boarding;

iv. Returnees will have their facemasks on before boarding and must be in health recommended apparel: long sleeve tops and full-length trousers or ankle length skirts (females), long sleeve shirts and full length trousers (males);

IN-FLIGHT:

Returnees must be in possession of travel list requirements which include:

i. Surgical facemasks (which will be worn pre-boarding and throughout the flight);

ii. Hand Sanitizers (To be used at regular intervals during the flight);

iii. Returnees must ensure that they administer hand sanitizers at regular intervals, at meal times and at disembarkation;

iv. Returnees must ensure that they keep their facemasks on for the duration of the flight, except during meals, after which they must put their facemasks back on;

v. Returnees are expected to fill the self-reporting/health assessment forms, while on board the flight (Primary screening/self-reporting form);

ON ARRIVAL

i. International passports of returnees will be collected on arrival for special Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Clearance and will be kept with the NIS during the period of the quarantine, after which returnees will be required by the Nigeria Immigration Service to present themselves for MIDAS acquisition and necessary clearance;

ii. Returnees must adhere to the instructions of Port Health Services (PHS) officials to ensure implementation of the full IPC measures, as contained in the PHS protocols for entry screening as the passengers disembark;

iii. Returnees are expected to be transported in buses from the tarmac to the quarantine facilities;

iv. Returnees are to be tested during the period of the quarantine and on the 14th day of the quarantine;

v. A positive test would necessitate their transfer to an isolation/treatment facility;

vi. At the end of the quarantine period, returnees can go home but they will be followed up by the surveillance team for another seven days;

vii. Returnees/persons who exit quarantine would be required to appear before the Nigeria Immigration Service at the respective airports for MIDAS acquisition, necessary clearance and retrieval of their international passports;

viii. Returnees will be responsible for the cost of logistics to their home states after the quarantine period.
